Yellow Dog Linux 5.0 für PlayStation 3 pünktlich zum Konsolenstart

The Terra Soft Solutions site has been updated to announce that the Yellow Dog Linux distribution will be available for the Sony PlayStation 3 at console launch:

"YDL v5.0 is slated for release mid-November with support for the Sony PS3 first, and support for the former Apple PowerPC product line to follow. Any updates required to support the Apple PowerPC systems following the release for PS3 will be made available via a free download."

Interessanterweise kommt das neue YDL für Cell noch vor der Version für
den normalen PowerPC. Weiter erwähnenswert: Der Standarddesktop
wird der bekannte Linux-Window-Manager Enlightenment DR17 sein.

Zusammen mit Sony/IBM werkelt die Firma auch am ersten Cell-Supercomputer
mit.

Bin zwar kein Konsolenfan, aber wenn Linux auf der neuen Kiste voll
läuft, könnte ich mir ein schickes Allround-Terminal schon vorstellen

Instabil ist E17 schon lang nicht mehr. Wird von vielen eingesetzt.
Vector Linux liefert ihn schon eine ganze Weile als optionalen Desktop
mit.

Ich habs gestern mal wieder geupdated...
Bis auf ständige Segfaults läufts jetzt stabil
