Hallo,
Firstly:
The onboard SCSIs are:
50 Pin SCSI Anschluß für Fast SCSI Kabel
68 Pin SCSI Anschluß für Wide SCSI Kabel
68 Pin SCSI Anschluß für Ultra2 Kabel
Note that some converters, also for 80 Pin Drives to 68 Pin cable are available.
Secondly, their is nothing wrong with the board you have and do not let some Tec freaks intimidate you into believing that you are using stone age equipment. If well maintained this board will give u many more years of service.
For details on the board please go to: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
and use the Download search to access Manuals, Drivers, BIOS updates etc for the board.
I have run this board and its single CPU sibling with SCSI drives (some mirrowd) up to 32GB for my OS, which has proven to be the most reliable option compared to IDE and SATA drives, for ten years now. Unless you are using your PC for Gaming that is plenty of space for OS and Software. You will need to find these drives on eBay or such. There is lots of new surplus “outdated” Hardware on the market that will do the job well and usually will be cheaper than buying “The Latest” which will probably give u other headaches.
As you say, that you are not familiar with SCSI, you will need somebody to help you, that knows about setting up SCSI drives and who will be able to help u hunt down the right drives on the Net.
Hoffentlich Hilft Dir dies etwas weiter --- Good Luck.
