BIOS flashen?

Hallo allerseits

Habe eben mal mit SiSoft Sandra meinen PC analysiert und dabei festgestellt, dass meine BIOS-Version veraltet ist. Ich habe Version 2.05 (Juni 04) drauf und runterladen kann man bei ZDNet Version 2.14 (Dezember 04). Untenstehend habe ich die Aenderungsliste angehängt. Mainboard: Fujitsu Siemens D1625C.

Meine Frage ist eigentlich:

Macht es Sinn, dass BIOS zu updaten, oder gehe ich ein unnötiges Risiko ein? Hat man Performance-Gewinn durch das Update?

Ich habe die exe-Datei mal ausgeführt und dann bietet sie mir an eine Floppy mit einer biosflash.exe zu erstellen.

Wie muss ich das nun machen? Wie kann ich meinen PC retten wenn das flashen schief geht?

improves boot time with USB-Legacy enabled.

- USB Legacy Support:
Bug fix: After Transition from Legacy Mode to
Extrinsic Support (after BIOS handover to USB
device driver) at next SMI event System BIOS
enabled PS/2-Keyboard/Mouse IO-Port trapping
erroneously.

values at CMOS.

Zunächst: Wenns schiefgeht, ist das Mainboard meist Schrott. Ein BIOS-Update ist eigentlich auch nur in folgenden Situationen sinnvoll oder notwendig:
-Die CPU wird nicht erkannt/unterstützt (bei Dir wohl kein Thema)
-Das System läuft instabil,. resettet desöfteren und Hardwareschäden sowie fehlerhafter RAM kann als Ursache ausgeschlossen werden, idealerweise sollte man auch die verwendete Software als Fehlerquelle ausschließen.

Sollte keiner der beiden Faktoren auftreten, besteht eigentlich kein Grund zum Updaten. Auch wenn manchmal nichtdokumentierte Fehler behoben werden (wie bei Windows, Bananensoftware reift beim Kunden)

Ich komme nur darauf, weil in einigen Zeitschriften beim "rausputzen" des Systems immer steht: "BIOS auf den neusten Stand bringen".

Ich habe auch schon gelesen, dass damit die letzten Leistungsreserven des Mainboards ausgeschöpft werden können.

Das ist wohl war. Aber wenn du nicht vorhast dir in der nächsten Zeit neue Hardware zuzulegen würd ich es lassen.
