The long awaited community update has been released by EA.com. The information confirms that the patch is not being released this week, but instead, it will be released "late April", which probably means early May. In any case, here's exactly what EA Aaron had to say:
Due to some last minute and unforeseen technical issues we are experiencing finalizing patch 1.02, we have held off on our CQC submission longer than expected. I will fully take the heat for promising to deliver patch 1.02 this week, as this was not the intent. This is unfortunate, however, the last thing we want to do is release a patch to you guys that will interrupt your gameplay experience. The other BIG and important reason why we are delaying our patch 1.02 submission to CQC until next week is so we can add in a tool specifically for the Modification Community. Yes, I am very intent on supporting the Modification Community. This is called the Asset-Cache Builder tool which will provide a very streamlined ease of use system to import your own customized textures and units in to the game. See my post down below for further details. We presumed at first this could be released externally from the patch, but recently realized that it technically needed to be included.
In lieu of this, I have decided to shave my head as punishment, no just kidding. Please understand that when we submit patch 1.02 to CQC, it has to be in the exact state that we want to ship it live to the community, or else CQC will ask us to resubmit. As you know CQC is the last step a patch must go through before approval, so it needs to be 100% clean for them to verify and approve it for public release. This delay was fully unexpected and we are working round the clock on finalizing it for you. With a normal and likely turnaround, patch 1.02 should be approved in CQC later next week and see a late April release. This is a major patch that has been under development for a while now, and we intend to make sure it is 100% clean for public release, and above all includes the vital disconnect code you have been clamoring for.
I will let you guys know exactly when it has been approved in CQC and keep you well up to date on the process.
